Stancildomes
Stancildome is a term coined in the essay Exit the Stancildome for a recurring pattern of Bluesky reply-thread cascades involving Will Stancil. The shape:
- Someone criticizes Stancil with contempt that’s not entirely unprofessional.
- Stancil rebuffs them in a way that’s also not entirely unprofessional.
- Followers on both sides jump in. Too many of them are idiots, and the thread quickly escalates into aggressive replies, insults, and sometimes slurs.
- As the original participants drift off, the aggrieved bystanders direct their anger at whoever is still around.
The defining feature is the cascade’s escalation past the point where the original two participants are still involved. Bigotry, slurs, and dogwhistles can show up; they’re not required.
A variant: sometimes Stancil himself doesn’t reply at all (see 2026-05-07), and the cascade forms under a critic’s quote-post with Stancil supporters dogpiling instead. The shape — escalating aggression among third parties — is the same.
Threads were retrieved via Bluesky’s public API; each quoted line links to the source post. Reply and author counts reflect what was visible to the API at retrieval time.
2026-01-18 — cybertruckh8r

Stancil replied in two posts:
I did not “harass her for a week.” I pointed out a single time, accurately, that she is reliably at the center of harassment mobs (in that case not even of me, but of someone else) and that accounts like that should be banned for the health of the community. I still think so.
The fact that you guys STILL come after me for that single comment sort of demonstrates what I’m talking about, no? But I’m done. I’ve got more important things to do.

2026-05-02 — spy ring
In the early morning of May 2, 2026, Stancil posted a 14-post thread responding to a TikTok video accusing him of having endangered an anti-ICE source. The opening post:
This Andrea woman is a TikTok influencer and a grifter. She did nothing. There was no “spy ring” I revealed - I had a friend who got info off ICE agents she matched with, who said I should share her story. This is insane. I’m being attacked as a misogynist by hundreds of people for doing as asked.
Later in the same thread:
These people are going to get me killed, or maybe just get me to jump off a bridge myself, I don’t even know. This is insane. This TikTok idiot is lying!

Later the same morning, Stancil posted (in a thread continuing from an earlier post, “What are we even doing here”):
Guys can we please clean house on this site? It’s left kiwi farms, people who believe that being leftist or trans or a furry or whatever gives them unlimited license to torture others, even though it’s excruciatingly clear it’s just a highly enjoyable sport for most of these people
A Stancil supporter, @vurobinut.bsky.social, replied to the post:
Will I love you but you are retarded to think this site is and its userbase is some morally righteous group of people. … They are unhinged bullies who got bullied out of xitter and how bully people here

2026-05-02 — abumirchi
@abumirchi.com posted to Stancil:

Stancil replied with a multi-post thread defending his engagement style. Selected lines:

2026-05-03 — painting a target

What the fuck? Thousands of people were abducted. People were murdered in the street. We do not want another round of this shit.

Stancil did not reply directly. The cascade formed under @walkingminnesota’s quote-post, with Stancil supporters dogpiling on the critic. Selected replies:

On May 8, 2026, Stancil posted an 11-post thread defending earlier comments about Bluesky moderation. The opening post:
Look not that it seems that anyone on this site is remotely concerned with the truth, but no, I never called for Bluesky to “clean house” of any group.
What I said is that there’s a lot of people who are extremely abusive (true), often invoking some group identity as a permission slip or defense.
A later post in the same thread:
You can claim - and many do! - that this isn’t abuse because the targets are cis white men like myself. That’s plainly false.
